We understand the complexities in navigating today's regulatory needs and that Method-9 training should not be something that adds to your burden. Additionally, Smoke.School is not a regulating agency, nor do we provide any type of source testing services. Therefore, no matter what you do, we have no conflict of interest.

In-person public training events
We hold convenient in-person training events all over the Pacific Northwest making certification simple and dependable. We pride ourselves on quality training which in turn makes you better at Method-9 in the field. For a list of events near you, please click on our schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, as long as proper documentation is provided. We will need proof of prior attendance which may include your previous certification number, or certificate of passage from the school you attended.
Once you have paid, or agreed to our terms of payment, you may test until you pass.
You have 90 minutes to finish the test once started. If you do not complete the test within that time, you will simply start over. You may retake the test as many times as needed until you pass.
If payment has been made and you have completed the required lecture for first time students, you can expect a digital card 5 business days or sooner.
All method 9 certifications are good for exactly 6 months from the day of test completion.
Just like testing in the field, completion time will vary from student to student. Typically a student going through the first time may take longer. We highly recommend first time students to watch our brief introduction video which gives tips and suggestions for a successful test. A proficient, repeat student may only require 15 minutes to pass if they skip right to testing, while a first time student may require an hour or more if they are not used to virtual training. For most people, completion time is less than 1 hour.
The headset is stand-alone and does not need any computer to operate it. You only need a high speed wi-fi connection. Setup instructions are available after account creation and can walk you through the process. If at any point you need help, you may contact us and we will help you.
If for some reason your headset battery dies, you will be forced to start over again. We recommend a fully charged headset before beginning and you may want to leave it plugged in while wearing them to maintain the charge.
No. Once you have completed the lecture and submitted your test, you will always be considered a “recert” going forward and will never have to do the complete course again as long as you retain proof of you initial completion.
